Hey, everyone. This is me again. So, this article is for the people that have never used a parachute hammock or just purchase one or for people that have one and after a
while, being in it.

Many people who are laying inside a hammock they find it to be uncomfortable and never would think about spending the night in it. So that, I insists to talk about it and
showing you the basic concept of a hammock. We’re gonna look at it in a different angle. We’re gonna look at some of the biggest mistakes that people would make when they purchase the parachute hammock.

The first is how people are laying inside the hammock and the next mistake is how to set it up and the last one is the cold-butt syndrome. That’s all what we are going to talk about. So we look at these three mistakes. We’re going to go from the third to the second, then to the first which is actually the biggest mistake people make. Let’s get into them one by one.

Mistakes in using parachute hammock

As just said before that the third would be the frozen of “your back” syndrome. I am pretty sure that the first thing that people notice when the temperature
drops for example below 60 or 70 degrees is their underside will start getting cold. If they’re laying in their back or sitting in it, then their butt will get cold. Hence the frozen butt syndrome and as a temperature gets colder, of course your backside gets colder too. as simple as that.

It is because of the air circulate underneath you so that you have to get or use an air mattress but it has to be insulated air mattress. Otherwise, you could use a mat from your clothes or the foam mats will be work the best. You can even get the cheap foam mats from Walmart or any department store and they will work very well.

Doing that would probably get you down to let’s say around 40 degrees and what you do is you take it you lay foams in your hammock and then you get in it. There is one thing about the foam mattress you should know that it shifts around and you really have to work with it to get it exactly where you want it to be.

But, it isn’t the best way of doing it. In case you want your camping to get more cheaper, I think it works very well and then you will feel that your backside is not cold as before. You won’t feel any coldness in it with the mat underneath you. So that, one thing I recommend if you’re going to buy a parachute hammock and if you plan to start off, remember for using a mat because maybe the money for the under quilt is not enough yet.

This will also be my suggestion that when you’re getting a hammock, keep in your mind that looking for a double layer or hammock with the better insulation underneath is quiet important so there will be an extra thing that protecting you from the cold. But surely that won’t be my own priority since I think that bringing my own sleeping bag can even better. But it’s all you decision which one to make.

I think that getting the underquilt that made out of goose down you can find them cheaper now. Parachute hammock gear is making one with duck down as well so they’re a lot cheaper right around a hundred dollars worth.

If you are finding that the underquilt is still very expensive for you, think about it as the good investment. You can use it for years. If you really want to get into a backpacking with a hammock or hammock camping i really suggest you to get an underquilt.

Now, you have known how to makes your butt getting warm right now.

The second big mistake is how to set up the hammock or how to hang it. The proper angle for a hammock suspension like the straps is a 30-degree angle to achieve the best. The far of the distance between a tree, the higher the straps that attach to tree will have to go. So if the tree was farther, the only think I would do is to take the suspension and move it up higher to achieve the 30 degree.

And if you are wondering about how to figure out the 30 degree angle, there’s one little trick that you can do. It is you take a finger and keep it parallel to the ground and your thumb up, if it hits the suspension that there is a 30 degree angle that can be 12 to 15 feet or 17 feet works best to achieve this 30 degree angle.

If you’ve got a parachute hammock and sometimes go a little bit farther, then you can go as high as you can.

Another one way you can tell if you have a proper hang is if you have a ridge line on. If you take it and you pinch it and if it is possible if you can bend it and it’s not to taunt to where you can bend it and not to loose, then that is a perfect hang you are setting.

I think that many people will take their hammock and they’ll have it almost attached to the tree without any distance and it would be pretty tough to get comfortable in that.

Now, it is time to tell you about the first one big mistake that people make which is how to lay in a hammock.

When I was seeing people laying in their hammock, their body will automatically shaped. You know what I mean right? Sometimes the shape looks almost like the “U” “C,” “V,” banana, etc. I don’t know how the shape will be named, those are just what my mind told me.

In the other hands, I have seen videos how the other different travellers or adventurers were laying their body pretty much straight horizontally and made me assuming that it should be the proper way to rest your body. What I am just assumed doesn’t have to be right, but if you will agree with that, then let’s dig deeper into it.

It is about the comfortability while minimising the bad impact to our body inside the hammock. It is because you are possible to sleep in it overnight. And you don’t want to feel hurt the next morning you are waking up, right?

The main cause of the banana shape of the body when you are inside the hammock is the wrong setup you have adjusted. That’s pretty obvious.

And then, what people tend to do when they get in a hammock is they lay straight in it. Later, they find that their feet and head are up high, shaped like a banana. I know that it isn’t too bad for now but it’s certainly getting uncomfortable.

So that, what you want to do the proper way to lay in a parachute hammock is to lay asymmetrical. What you need to do is turn and twist almost like you’re trying to get in. It’s about the sideways you want to lay asymmetrical in there and you just shift their own until you find yourself flat.

That should make you feel more comfortable than your usual way of laying in and that will be the proper way to lay in a hammock. I am saying it for true and you can now start sleeping up to the morning comfortably.
